What moves the number up: restricted recess or after-hours windows, isolated single-site visits in the lake country, outdoor routes needing a municipal conversation, distance that forces a second closet, plenum jacket, historic-district constraints in the river villages, and full certification with drawings.
What moves the number down: accessible ceilings with existing pathway, pre-drywall rough-in, grouping several sites into one trip, bundling multiple systems into one mobilization, and booking early enough to land a normal working window rather than an urgent one.

Each figure above is the published rate times the drop count next to it — no hidden assumptions and no quote implied. Access windows, travel between dispersed sites, outdoor routes, distance, coring, firestop and certification all shift the real number, which comes out of the survey. The floor on any job is $500.
Nothing is leased and nothing recurs — the installation belongs to the property. Products we supply carry three years. Return visits and callbacks are $195/hour with a three-hour minimum, so $585.
LOCAL PROBLEMS
A district project scoped larger than the recess it has to fit in. The most common Putnam failure, and it hands back a half-finished corridor in September.
An outdoor route priced before anybody asked the town. In five of six towns, ground disturbance is a question with an owner, and it is not the cable supplier.
Documentation left out to win the number. On public work it is a contract line, so leaving it out does not make the job cheaper — it makes the bid non-compliant.

Build every closet the same way. On a district with six buildings the person maintaining them is one technician. Consistency is worth more here than clever layout.
Ask the town before pricing an outdoor route. Indoors it never comes up. Outdoors in most of this county it decides whether the route exists.
Group the drives. Two towns in a day is normal and reasonable. One building an hour away for four hours of work is a cost somebody pays, and it should be visible rather than hidden in the rate.
