TERMINOLOGY
Most disagreements over a cabling quote come down to two parties using the same words differently. This is the vocabulary you need to read a proposal in this borough, including a few terms that only matter in a facility.
Drop. One run from closet to outlet, terminated both ends. Cabling is priced per drop, not per foot.
Home run. One cable from one device back to the closet with nothing shared along the way.

Patch panel. Where permanent cable ends and short patch cords take over, so switches change without anybody re-terminating a run.
Punch-down. Seating each conductor into its contact. Done carelessly the drop works and never certifies clean.
Plenum (CMP) versus riser (CMR). Which jacket a run needs depends on the space it crosses. Downgrading is one of the few shortcuts here that creates real liability.
Wiremap versus certification. A wiremap confirms every conductor is on the right pin. Certification measures length, crosstalk, return loss and delay against TIA-568 and prints a result per drop.
As-built. The closeout drawing and port map, which on a facility running three shifts is the difference between a ten-minute fault and a three-hour one.

Keep terminations out of the cold. Wherever the design allows, the jack and the active equipment live in ambient space and only the run passes through. A termination sitting inside a freezer is a fault with a delayed start date.
Agree the window before the scope. On a site running shifts, everything else follows from when the floor is actually available. A programme written around hours that do not exist is not a programme.
Mount for the forklift, not for the technician. The comfortable height is frequently the wrong one. Anything within the traffic envelope gets hit eventually, and eventually is sooner than anybody expects.

Yes, with two checks. It has to be solid copper, and it has to be rated for the environment it is going into. If a delivery is standard jacket destined for refrigerated space we will say so before installation rather than after, because that failure surfaces two winters later and is expensive to unwind.

A facility with environmental zones and a restricted window runs longer in calendar time even where the labour hours are similar, because the work is staged. Wiremap and length testing is performed on one hundred percent of drops as standard.
